Highlights of our experience in Marine Insurance

  • Trade Credit and Political Risk: We advise and act for major European and Asian credit insurers, providing policy advice and defending clams. Our work includes investigating cases in which fraud is suspected, mapping the inter-relationships between parties to a transaction and devising a strategy for recovery action or defence of a policy claim using in-depth trading knowledge which the team has acquired with a combined experience of nearly 100 years in Hong Kong
  • Fine Arts: The last 20 years has seen unprecedented growth in the Asian and Southeast Asian art market with china emerging as the second largest market for art in 2018. The Asian art market looks set to continue to grow, and with growth comes the need for ancillary professional services such as insurance, loss prevention, appraisal and legal support. At CMS Hong Kong we are well placed to serve the needs of clients in the region. We combine our knowledge of the fine art world with the legal expertise to deliver pragmatic commercial advice to our clients across the full spectrum of support they require with a particular focus on insurance policies and claims.
  • Bloodstock: CMS Hong Kong has extensive equine knowledge with members of the department having spent a lifetime with horses of all types. The team has advised and assisted on disputed claims under bloodstock policies or concerning bloodstock.
  • Jewellers Block: Our team has provided advice to Underwriters/ Insurers on many Jewellers’ Block policy claims and assisted Underwriters in their defence of claims brought in respect of jewellery losses as well as claims arising from damage in transit, working closely with experienced loss adjusters in this field.
